What generator experience has the Training Academy have related to generators?

The Training Academy facilitators has a combined experience of over 70 years related to the design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and maintenance of generators of which some of the control configurations are of the most sophisticated in South Africa.

What facilities does the Training Academy offer?

The Training Academy has classrooms, workshops, electrical control and protection panels, generator control panels, PLC panels, generator simulator and a generator plant with manual, automatic, paralleling and islanding modes of operation dedicated only for training purposes.

Is the generator courses Seta accredited?

The South Africa Seta’s has no course designed for the exclusive training related to the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of diesel generators. The Seta’s are also not registering new courses until further notification.

Does the training Academy offer accommodation?

Accommodation can be arranged at nearby B&B with a shuttle service to and from the Training Academy.

What qualifications do you need to attend the generator training courses?

The candidate does not need not to be a qualified artisan but basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering will be an advantage.

Is the module 1 & 2 generator course a combined course?

Yes, modules 1 and 2 of the generator course must run concurrent.

How much practical do I get in attending the Generator course module 1 & 2?

The course has being designed to ensure a high level of competency related to commissioning, testing, programming, faultfinding, maintenance and preventative maintenance.  For that reason the course contents are 70% practical and 30% theory.

Will I be able to work on different type of engines, alternators, control and electrical components after completing the course?

The Training Academy is an educational facility with its main focus on the advanced education of technical applicants to ensure the effectiveness of their skill in their working environment. For that reason they are trained on the concepts and operation of different brand names of equipment related to standby generators.

Who is the target market of the generator training course?

With the ever increasing demand of standby generators in South Africa due to the utility supply crisis the demand of skill generators technicians are also increasing. The Training Academy has being established to provide educational training for all technical personal involved in the design, procurement, testing, installation, commissioning and maintenance of standby generator sets.

What is the maximum and minimum number of candidates that can attend the course?

The maximum number of candidates the Training Academy can accommodate per course is sixteen and the minimum is six.
